sir,

I have been accepted for service in the New

Service Battalions now being raised in Great Britain and am

required to sail on the S.S. "Delta" on or about the 2nd pro-

ximo, I therefore beg that my resignation be accepted and that

the customary obligations referred to in my agreement with the

Government be waived.

I offer my resignation only because I understand

that the Government will grant no leave to its officers for

Military Services.
